my sister told me that i could draw before i could write my name. it came easy to me. i won a bike in a coloring contest when i was 12. i never really thought that i'd make a living at drawing and illustration, but i did enjoy it. i found out later that as a graphic designer, my rendering skills were a plus. i could do roughs quickly, and i found that when i designed with paper and pencil first, my designs were less rigid and lifeless than if i used the computer for my comprehensives. in 1993 i sold my first illustrated t-shirt. in 1994 i started b'gass soccer / big shot soccer and found that i could actually make good money by designing a pre-print line of soccer specific t-shirts. my illustrations today are usually done freehand (with pencil and paper), scanned into the mac, and then manipulated with adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator and adobe streamline. although i rarely have time to draw for pleasure anymore, i miss those days.
