the word "collateral" scared me the first time i heard it. one day my boss said "we have to go to century city (los angeles) to meet with the major league soccer people to talk about doing a media collateral piece for them. "wow" i thought to myself, major league soccer wants us to do a collateral piece... uuhmmm, "what's a collateral piece?" well i found out. big money. no whammies. pull out all the stops, four-color, glossy stock, varnishes, die-cuts, vellum, anything goes. these collateral pieces were given to the upper management of major corporations like adidas, nike, budweiser, honda, mastercard, pepsi, snickers, fujifilm, kodak, etc. to help raise sponsorship interest and big corporate backing. i feel as though the pieces were successful. they were certainly fun to do.
