Sam:
Just read your column in the June edition of Soccer San Diego (although the bottom of the page says March 1996 - tell your editor) entitled "How many times do I have to tell you..."
The Mid-New Jersey Youth Soccer League (over 550 teams of boys and girls 8-18 years old) has an automatic fine of $200.00 for coaches that get red carded. Games are terminated by the referees if parents get too loud. As a referee, I have several times whistled a stoppage in play, slowly walked over to the offending coach (or the coach of the offending parents) and informed him/her that this is a youth game and that the game will not proceed until everyone on the sideline has the proper demeanor. And then I wait and all the players wait until respectability is restored.
